Fashion Illustrator-Antonio Lopez

(Fashion Illustration by Antonio Lopez for French Vogue,1970)

Antonio Lopez is an American fashion illustrator. He was born in Utuado,Puerto Rico.Antonio Lopez was influenced by his parents,Maria Luisa Cruz and Francisco Lopez. He applied his artistic talents for fashion. He went to a high school called High School of art and Design and then to Fashion institute  of Technology.I am impressed by the way he lead his life because he went into internship Women's wear Daily and got a self a job in the publician and then he left the job and got a new position at the New Work Times.Antonio Lopez work appeared in publications such as Vogue,Elle,Haper's Bazar and The New York times. He worked with in collaborations Juan Eugene Ramos before. He also did illustrations of fashion designs of Charles James.

Picture above was taken from

This illustrations give attention to the person who is viewing the magazine or the cover.
The colour that were used are combination of both cool and bright colours probably because to attract people of his works and also fashion.Illustrating fashion and a motorcycle is quite cool and real because some people really looks good taking photos with their motorcycles or cars.It makes the theme more real .

This is also one of Antonio Lopez work.
The colours that were used were bright and the clothes that were illustrated in a retro mood. The background really matched with the models itself.Women or 'fashioniasta' always need to reflect themself with mirror and to readjust their make up and adjusting everything they could with a mirror. It really gives a good reflection of fashion because a women need mirror,a women needs fashion too!

This is also one of Antonio Lopez illustrations. Not only the bright, cool colours but there are also dark colours! This illustration is more likely of a symmetrical inspired work because some of the lines that were used were sharp and edgy. For example the picture from the right. The hair are not most hair like. They are edgy and square shaped like. The background were simple simply by using lines. On the left side of the picture,it is more obvious that the work is inspired by shapes. The hair is round, the background, there's frames. In some parts of the work it feels like it is inspired by the egyptian times.
Nevertheless,i feel that the work is interesting as it is simple yet, interesting due to it's colours and shapes.

David Downton-Fashion illustrator.

QUEEN OF EUROPE by David Downton December 1991

This is one of the first issue of Vogue Italia cover featuring Shana Zedrick in a dress by Gianni Versace. This is one of his drawings which is name QUEEN OF EUROPE by David Downton december 1991.I like how he colour the illustrations.I also like the strokes. It gives me a sexy kind of impressions.

When i was 15 years old, fashion illustrations were alien to me.When i started doing art,i then realise the importance of knowing all the painters, illustrators, designers, the people who use their time to do an artwork. They were the one who created the work. They were the one who process all the work before it was established in public.I believe that there won't be new if there are no old.

David Downton is a fashion illustrator. He was born in 1959 in Kent,England. How he started in art and illustrating is that he studied in Canterbury in 1977-1978 for foundation year. Later on, he continued studying in Wolverhampton for BA HONS in illustrations/graphics 1979-1981.In 1984,he moved to Brighton and began his career as an illustrator. He worked a wide variety of projects such as advertising and occasionally fashion. In 1996,Financial times,a british  international newspaper, offered him to draw at the Paris couture.Since then David have become a chiefly fashion illustrator.David's drawings from fashion shows were globally recognised.

Vogue Australia September 2009.

This is also his illustrations in 2009 celebrating 50 Years of Vogue. His works are becoming more and more edgy. And the class are getting darker.I love the way he present his illustrations. It gives me a elegant kind of look.

David Downton works are getting more and more detail too.As you can see from the first illustrations from this post, the illustrations was not so detailed as the 2013 illustration. The colour that he uses changes as time goes by.He used vibrant colours for his early illustrations but pastel colours for the latest one.

In conclusion, what i have learned from Downton personal life, being a student to a employee to a fashion illustrator gave me a good impression and i looked up to him as a hardworking person and a positive person. He got what people like me wanted. One day i hope i could be as 'lucky' or as good as him, becoming a successful person. He is one of my inspirations for doing fashion illustrations.Hopefully,i can achieve what he can one day.
